Day 8

Day 5

Clay Project

No Picture

I didn't think I was going to like this project at first because I don't like to get my hands dirty. But I did like to create something with my own hands that is what I can use regularly. I chose to create a dish to put my jewelry in that's pretty because I need one. I put a bird on it because I think it makes it look a lot more classy and I am going to paint it either a nice white or an aqua-ish color because that is my favorite color. I think I did a good job on this and it wasn't as bad as I thought!

9 Part

No picture

I liked this project because we could pick what theme we wanted to go with for our nine different images or whether we wanted to zoom in on different parts of the same image. I chose to have a theme of Egypt and Egyptian symbols and things. I picked it because that country really interests me and all of the symbols that represent something more there are just so interesting. I can't see the final product right now however, so I cannot tell whether or not I did well because I cannot remember.

Four Steps to Abstraction

I loved the drawing part of this assignment, and the ability to choose which image we wanted to close up on. I chose Finn and Jake from Adventure Time because it's one of my favorite cartoons and also because Mr. Puffpaff told us it's better to use a cartoon because of all the colors they have. I chose to zoom in on the fist bump because I think it's really cool. The whole painting part however, was not fun. I do not like to paint at all. So painting all of the little areas was reeaally hard to do and did not turn out too perfectly like I wanted.. But once I outlined in black it looked much better. It looks almost just like them! But the whole abstraction concept is really cool because it's all about strange shapes and making it difficult to grasp what you're looking at but it looks really interesting.

Gesture Drawing

This project was really fun for me because I like to sketch, and also because it turned out looking really good. Finding and not losing three different images of people to sketch was the hardest part haha.. But I eventually did and it's okay. The one in the middle is the gesture I worked the hardest on because it seemed like a really good one to draw and it ended up looking very professional once I outlined it in black. The highlighting of it was the most challenging part because I've never done that before so I did not know how to approach it, but once Mr. Puffpaff told me how to do it I learned fast and it looks very much like the original in regards to the gesture and outline. I think I did a very nice job on the detailing, even though making the legs look realistic wasn't easy and doesn't look too right .. Overall, a very interesting assignment and learned some good skills.
